Roots and perspective

I was born on Oahu and later moved to Washington. After earning my BA at the University of Washington, I spent a decade in nonprofit organizations serving marginalized communities. Those years—listening to stories of resilience and trauma—shaped my belief that representation and access change mental-health outcomes.

I completed my MSW with a clinical focus, worked at International Community Health Services, and continued serving immigrant, refugee, low-income, and Medicaid populations while earning independent licensure.

My Mission

Provide personalized care that fosters growth, resilience, healing, and self-advocacy—especially for older adolescents and adults of color. I treat people, not disorders, and will battle on for you.

Specialties and approach

  • CBT for anxiety/depression: identify distortions, build healthier thoughts, and activate daily routines.
  • DBT skills: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Behavior Therapy: break big goals into small, repeatable steps; reinforce what works.
  • Supportive Therapy: a steady space where trust grows and stigma diminishes.
  • Conflict Resolution & Communication: scripts and practice to turn arguments into agreements.

The 3C core values

Compassion, Curiosity, Collaboration. These guide every session: meet you where you are, ask better questions, and build the plan with you.

Mind–body integration

As a NASM-CPT, I can weave sleep hygiene, recovery, and movement habits into therapy—when it fits your goals.

Outside the office

Weekends are for my wife, son, and our dog, Mr. Peanut Butter. I love training, new therapy research, games, movies, and exploring local food spots— feel free to send your recommendations.

How we’ll meet

In-person in Seattle or Bellevue, or secure telehealth anywhere in Washington.

About author

Christopher Batalon

My name is Christopher Batalon—you can call me Chris. I am a fully licensed mental health therapist who specializes in depression, anxiety, men’s issues, identity issues, and multi-cultural issues. Although these are my specialties, the biggest measure of success in therapy when dealing with any issue, is trust and connection. If you have a therapist that you do not connect with, the change process can feel nonexistent. Connection can come in various forms. For instance, you share an area of the U.S. where you live and speak the same cultural language, or the person you are sitting across from simply looks like you. Whatever the case may be, a powerful connection is representation, and working with someone that you feel a strong connection with will greatly elevate the therapeutic process.
